Significant success as an actor, Howard has never achieved. All of his roles have been quite the same type - shirt guy from the backwoods. From this period is remarkable only his role in the unexpectedly popular low-budget film "American Graffiti" (1973) by George Lucas. The success did not wait for Howard as actor, but came to Howard as a director in 1982 after rolling tape "Night Shift". Bright and cheerful comedy with little plot wildly definitely appealing to the audience. Work in film as an actor Howard by the time the film virtually ceases. The controversial film "Willow" statement, which was proposed by Howard, George Lucas, will be recognized as a cult classic much later, and in 1988 falls in the U.S. box office. Reputatio of cash producer Howard recovers after comedy "Parents", consolidating its status in 1991, the picture "Backdraft". What, I must say, the studio did not regret, because, released in the summer of 1995 at the new film, was nominated for an Oscar in the nine nominations, and, of course, enriching their creators, grossed 172 million dollars. Subsequently, Howard has repeatedly captivated America for his films. The film "How the Grinch Stole Christmas" in which one of his best roles played by Jim Carrey, and surpassed the most optimistic expectations directed film "A Beautiful Mind" (2001), in which Howard managed to turn the "invincible" Gladiator - Russell Crowe as a modest mathematics. Proceedings were not in vain, an award to the director, a 4 Oscars, two of which, for best film and best director.
